Abstract: Successfully analyzing any process using computers is now life line of engineering. With the power of computer, using computers for decision making is ever increasing. Modeling and analyzing engineering elements is not considered as important method now and become mandatory to decide design conditions and parameters. Unlike manual design and analysis computational analysis provides many choices for selection of material to machining and methodology. Crane is a load carrying mechanical element which place vital role in many applications. It is one of the wonders of engineering field the weight of crane to load carrying capacity ratio is multifold and successfully handling of materials carried out. However the success remains with design of the crane hook which ultimately handles the entire load carried by the crane. Not only cranes, in many mechanical, automobile, aircraft and even spacecraft, the hooks play vital role in transferring load. Failure of hooks results to system failure in many applications. With advent of new composite materials and aluminum based light material in weight but stronger structure in design is need of the hour. And this analysis is such an effort to demonstrate systematically how such a critical crane elements analyzed to ensure safety. Under varying load condition, how the stress distribution changes in direction and magnitude is presented in this work.
