Abstract: Wireless sensor networks (WSN) comprises of a number of micro nodes known as sensor nodes which have the capability of sensing, data processing and communication. WSNs have the capacity to connect with their environment through sensors, process data and communicate the data with their neighbors. The fundamental issues in wireless sensor network having great impact on WSN are coverage and connectivity. The paper describes the important issues of wireless sensor network, classification of coverage problem. Some strategies of coverage are also described in which various topologies efficient coverage ratio is found in one of them. Some mechanisms are discussed here which reduces cost and also extend network lifetime. The paper also describes the connection between coverage and connectivity and 3D coverage control algorithm.
