Abstract: Ultrasound imaging is the most popular, non-invasive and inexpensive diagnostic tool in clinical imaging for treatment planning and therapy. Due to noise and artefacts present, pre-processing of these images is difficult which leads to poor image processing and analysis. In this paper, an improved frost filter with kernel of cross neighborhood is proposed for denoising and performance analysis for different neighborhood kernels is carried out using peak signal to noise ratio and mean square error.
