Abstract: Communication is an integral part of culture. We cannot separate language from culture. Speaking is a part of verbal communication skills that brings recognition to a person when used effectively. Effective speakers communicate with ease while sending and receiving information. If one can master the art of speaking, nothing is impossible to achieve. Innumerable factors such as socio-cultural background, society, quality of education and so on account to an individual’s speaking ability. The paper presents factors that are directly or indirectly responsible for a person’s mediocre spoken skills and how our culture has its own share in it, in addition to suggesting some probable solutions.
