Abstract: In underground mine , it is very important to maint in fresh and sufficient air in ventilated areas to maintainsa few or kingenvironment for workers . To study the behavior of airflo win underground mine , a T shaped crosscut region of Bordand Pillermining is considered forsimulation in two different cases : without end with thin brattice positioning at cross cutregion . Brattice is cost effectiveventilation control device to deft ectair into unventilated area in undergroundmine . Theultimate objects to find the bestlocation anddimensionoforatrice across t he crosscut region by which one can getmaximum velocity at dea d end . In this thesis, a computationalfluiddynamics (CFD) and op amization algorithms are considered for maximizing the air flow a t the dead end byplacing a brattice at optimumlocation. Twodiffe rentoptimization algorithms : mula objective genetic algorithm ( MOGA ) and non linearprogramming ofquadraticLagrangian ( NLPQL ) opamizatio in techniques were used in thissmudy ANSYS FLUENT velocity software is used forCFD modeling at T shaped crosscut region andcomputes the simulation result ofair f low at dead end . Optimization techniques are used for top nimize four input parameters; bratnice position verticalandhorizo ntal from thewall of crosscut region and width andlength of brass ice . The objectives for optimizations aretomaximize the velocity at dead end and minimize the pressuredrop in crosscut region. Com parisonis carried out betweencrosscut region without and with a thin bramice using optimization techniques and found the best location anddimension of bra mice. To increasethe air flow velocity at dead endincrease the safe working for workers and supplyadequatecir coworking f ace.
