Abstract: Radio over Fiber is a powerful technology to cater the today’s demands of the customer regarding coverage and capacity. The behaviour and performance of the RoF link is analyzed with MZM external modulator by transmitting ASK data in downlink with the simulation set up on Opti System. The impact of chromatic dispersion and laser phase noise due to RF oscillator on Carrier to Noise Ratio (CNR) in radio over fiber systems is studied. The CNR penalty of 3-4 dB is observed for the variation of 10 to 1000MHz Line width of the laser.
Keywords: IM-DD, ODSB, OSSB, CNR, 64 QAM, 8DPSK.
